Got $480 from the Costco AMEX card (3% cashback on eating out, 2% travel, 1% all else); get $100 every few months from a Chase VISA (5% on groceries, gas, drugstores - 1% otherwise) and a couple $100 from a USAA MC where it’s only 1% back but we charge our insurance, cable / internet bill to that card…

What are some normal cash-back amounts and can you recommend other / better ways to make money back on the money you spend? thanks!

(and hope this helps some out there figure out how great credit cards can be is you know how to use them — my husband and I have joint card accounts and charge EVERYTING to the cards, pay the balance in full each month and only have cards with no annual fee… just need to remember what card to use for gas, for a restaurant, etc for max % reward…)

First thanks to everyone who responded, but let me clarify a little, One of my children took two of my credit cards from my wallet at some point. I do not have pin numbers He went to a restaurant about .1 miles from the house, purchased nothing, and had the manager who works there give him cash. From a fraud standpoint, the credit card companies say I can do nothing unless I wish to press charges againt my child as well as the restaurant manager. But they said their may be possible actions to take against the store but would not elaborate. We are talking hundreds of dollars. I am dealing with the child myself, but feel there is no way the manager should have given cash on a credit card, which , isn’t signed and on the back says “please check my id” in the signature block. I don’t know why they would have been willing to pay the cc fees to do this but they did. Anyone know of any legal actions that could be taken. I don’t want to pay a lawyer if there is no chance for me to accomplish.

I already have a pretty good cash back credit card I use all the time. I was wondering if you guys have had great experience with a cash back credit card that you may wish to recommend. The thing is, I like cash back cards because I like to put my money to work for me right away, instead of wait for reward points to accumulate. I’m looking forward to your suggestions. Thank you so much for your time!!! All the best!!!
