Buy travellers checks….that way, just in case you get robbed or lose your wallet, you will be covered…
I’d say I hope you have LOTS and LOTS of cash because while the major car rental companies will rent to her (she has to be age 21 at the time of rental), most if not all add a surcharge for drivers under 25 AND there will also be a surcharge to add you as an authorized driver. The car rental will also place a substantial authorization on the card reducing your available usable cash on the pre-paid card.
While using cash only is a good choice to avoid getting in debt, having a credit card does have its advantages, this is one of them. If YOU had a card you could rent the car, avoid the underage fee, not tie up a significant amount of your cash and then simply pay cash for the car rental when you return it. Also much easier to make hotel reservations.
There’s a simple answer here - do you have a debit/check card from your bank? Not an ATM card but a debit card with either a Visa or MasterCard logo on the front? If so, this will work. I haven’t had a credit card for years, just the debit card and I haven’t ever had a problem renting a car or making reservations. But, everyone is right - the rental company will charge you a premium for having a driver under 25 and another fee to add an additional driver. Have a fun trip!

You can use her credit card to rent a car but might want to call around and make sure. Even though it’s a pre-paid credit card as long as her name is actually typed on the card. Also a Visa gift card works very well. I went to Florida in March and that was all I used
